Why do we farm? |
|
The answer is really quite simple. We like to eat and we like to eat well. We want fresh, wholesome foods for ourselves, our family and our friends. Brian and I believe farmers and those who support local farmers strengthen communities. Knowing the person who grows the vegetables and the meat that you eat for dinner gives you a sense of ownership. For us, as farmers, building personal relationships with folks who support the farm increases the sense of responsibility for quality and freshness. We believe in preserving biodiversity through raising heritage livestock breeds and heirloom vegetables. Currently we raise: Dexter, Highland, White Park and Belted Galloway cattle, Red Wattle Hogs and Shetland sheep. We are converting our laying flock to heritage breeds such as Rhode Island Red and Wyandotte chickens. Midget White turkeys will join the poultry selection this year as well. We raise many heirloom and rare vegetables/fruits in our gardens.
We take great pride in knowing that we are sustainably growing healthy, fresh produce and grass fed, hormone free meats for our family and yours. Dot and Brian PS. Dot has a blog: http://kissmygrassfarmblog.blogspot.com |
